(Mar. 1, 2005) Ð A Naval Aviator, assigned to Carrier Air Wing Two (CVW-2) greets his newborn child for the first time after returning from a deployment to the Western Pacific Ocean aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Lincoln and CVW-2 supported Operation Unified Assistance, the humanitarian relief effort to aid the victims of the tsunami that struck Southeast Asia during their Western Pacific deployment. Lincoln pulled into San Diego to drop-off the Sailors and Marines assigned to CVW-2 and then make its transit up the coast to her homeport of Everett, Wash.
