Photo Description:
050523-N-1332Y-001Yokosuka, Japan (May 23, 2005) - Airman Samuel Smith uncoils an aircraft fuel hose on the flight deck aboard the conventionally powered aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) as the ship and her crew depart Yokosuka Naval Base for its summer underway period. Fuel hoses are laid out prior to aircraft operations for quick refueling response. Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the U.S. Navy's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate Airman Apprentice Adam York (RELEASED)
